who is MABETH?
I am MABETH— the hands, heart, and vision behind MABETH Hair Couturier.
This is more than a salon. It is a private, intentional space created for those ready to step into their presence with confidence, authenticity, and individuality. I do more than style hair — I shape identity, refine self-expression, and help align how you feel on the inside with how you show up on the outside.
Hair is the frame to your face — the one accessory you wear every single day. It carries your energy. It sets the tone before you speak. When designed with care and intention, it can transform how you move through the world.
My Story
I grew up in the Philippines, where quiet strength, tradition, and beauty shaped the world around me. But it was my Dad who showed me what it truly meant to be authentic. He was my mirror — bold, impulsive, endlessly creative. A man who moved through the world with vibrant self-expression and refused to be boxed in. He was unpredictable in the most inspiring way, and through him, I learned that individuality is not something to hide — it is something to be celebrated.
Inspired by that freedom, I began crafting hair accessories as a young girl — not to decorate, but to express. Even within the constraints of a school uniform, I found ways to carve out identity. That instinct to create, to define, to take up space through beauty, has never left me.
One day, my grandmother sent me a curling iron from Canada. That moment was quiet, but it changed everything. It was more than a tool — it was permission. A subtle but powerful sign that said, go explore. That curling iron sparked something in me — a fire I continue to carry.
I followed a path that did not exist yet. I built my own. From working internationally to running salons, mentoring stylists, and evolving my craft, I have always chosen to create rather than conform.
Hair was not the plan — but it became the perfect medium.
I have always been an artist. From an early age, I was drawn to proportion, texture, and the emotional language of form. I have always had an eye for shape and a deep sensitivity to how color and structure affect presence. Over time, hair became the most intimate, responsive material I could work with. It moves. It holds energy. It becomes part of how someone sees themselves — and how they are seen.
My path has taken me around the world — training with leading hair academies, running my own salon, teaching advanced haircutting and coloring, and working with brands I trust. But what I wanted was space to go deeper. That is why I built this atelier on Granville Island. One chair. One client. Full focus. Surrounded by artists and craftspeople, this is where my best work happens.
My Approach
Everything I do is tailored. I observe — your face, features, the way your hair moves, the way you move. I work with what is already there and shape it into something that feels completely natural and entirely considered.
Self-expression is a language — one that speaks before you do. When your hair, your movement, and your energy are aligned, people do not just see you — they feel you.
My process is deeply personal and intentional. I take time to observe the shape of your features, the tone of your skin, the color of your eyes, the architecture of your presence. Every detail matters — not for the sake of perfection, but to create something that feels aligned.
I bring a multidisciplinary approach to every transformation. With over 24 years of experience, I have trained and worked across hairdressing, color, makeup, image consulting, confidence coaching, and the visual arts. This layered perspective allows me to see the whole person — not just how you look, but how you move, express yourself, and hold your presence.
It is about alignment. About helping you feel grounded in who you are — and letting that be fully seen.
